  United Nations General Assembly Report on Objection to Military Service by Jehovah's Witnesses and others | June 3, 2013

  jw leaks has published the june 3, 2013, united nations general assembly analytical report on conscientious objection to military service.. page 3, paragraph 4, of the report states:.

  "the following non-governmental organizations responded: the associazione comunita papa giovanni xxiii, the centre for civil and political rights, the european bureau for conscientious objection, the european organisation of military associations, forum 18 news service, the german institute for human rights, human rights watch, the international fellowship of reconciliation, jehovahs witnesses, the quaker united nations office, the russian ngo soldiers mothers of st. petersburg, the union of conscientious objectors, and war resisters international.".

  this 17 page report deals substantially with jehovah's witnesses.. .

  The Watchtower is de facto an NGO or "Non Governmnetal Orgaization." It's not its NGO status per se, but rather its application for recognition and membership on the list of approved NGOs to the UN that was the source of the scandal.

  Looks like these venues will be stationary targets for "apostates" who mind their manners and engage them on their own turf, perhaps in the presence of other non-JW onlookers in the place, but politely enough to avoid getting kicked out.

  It's exactly the opposite at Bethel today: the neo-Judaisers there have swept aside the last fourth in favor of the first three fourths.

  New Trend in Dramas?

  so it used to be that all dramas were ot.

  period, that was it.. then they started incorporating a "modern day" application of the ot drama where actors in the present day reflected on the story.. then they started using some highly fictionalized nt characters in dramas (never jesus of course).

  in the past few years we've been getting more "modern dramas", just about people in the present dealing with their "problems".

  now that enough time has passed and i've moved away, i think i'm overdue to share some of the stories from my fade.

  i've mentioned some of this before, but i think it deserves its own thread.. we all would like to be able to freely ask questions about jw beliefs and get our family and friends to really think about certain questions.

  however, when you're a baptized jw, you really can't ask any good questions or you'll get the "apostate" label slapped on you!

  Good going, Billy; I tried a variation of your tactic when the Manchester Guardian published that item on the UN NGO question; brought it up before a post-bookstudy coffee-and-cookies session at my house. Two elders were present; lots of stammering before they trotted out the conjecture that the reporter "might well be an apostate."
